Daedric Princes
May. 13th, 2018 11:37 am There are 19 Daedric princes total. Almost all of them are considered genderless since their creation and have their own parts to play. This makes them incredibly dangerous and powerful as they can not be killed even by a half-devil (such as Dante)
Azura – A Prince who maintains/draws power from the balance of night and day, light and dark.
Azura is always depicted as a female and is also thought to be the sister of Nocturnal, but whether this is true or not is yet to be known. Azura is one of the few Daedra who might be considered "good" by mortal standards, due to her concern for her followers' well-being. She is known to be one of the more merciful and benevolent Lords, though her wrath is swift and painful when it is brought about.
Azura's plane is known as Moonshadow, a realm said to be too beautiful for mortals to comprehend. It's a beautiful world of blurred colors, streaming together, cities of silver, and air like perfume.
Boethiah – The Prince of deceit, secrecy, conspiracy, treason, and unlawful overthrow of authority.
Boethiah is depicted as a great caped warrior, typically taking a stoic pose while wielding a giant golden battleaxe. A violent Prince, Boethiah is known for his enjoyment in the suffering of mortals and is often viewed as evil by others. This is especially true by using his followers for bloodsport and finding great entertainment that his followers stage huge "to the death" battle tournaments in his name.
Attribution’s Share is the Plane of Boethiah; it is known to be full of many maze gardens and twisted towers.
Clavicus Vile – The Prince of deals, pacts, power, bargains, and serenity through wish fulfillment.
Clavicus most often takes the form of a small, impish man with a pair of horns. He is best known for granting wishes and entering into pacts with mortals. He loves toying with mortals, generally for his own entertainment rather than for any particular purpose, and has been said to be fond of mortals' souls.
Clavicus has been known to split off portions of himself to create sentient objects or entities. It is also thought that this was how Devil Arms arms originated, found to be untrue. Barbas is thought to be a split portion of Clavicus himself, possibly retaining some form of precognition, but is often seen as a shapeshifter and most commonly as a dog.
It is thought that Clavicus wasn't worthy enough to have his own plane or didn't want one due to his like for the mortal world.
Hermaeus Mora – The formless Daedric Prince of knowledge and memory, seeks to possess all that is knowable.
He is not known for being good or evil; he seems to be the keeper of both helpful and destructive knowledge, although he usually sees all seekers of any knowledge as his servants. He usually chooses to appear to mortals as a void of darkness, or as a grotesque mass of tentacles and eyeballs.
Just like Hermaeus, Apocrypha which is his plane, is constantly shifting, dominated by an endless, roiling sea of toxic green liquid, where giant oily tentacles slither and writhe about the waves, whipping at anyone who gets too close. What little solid ground there is consists of several archipelagos and cathedral-like buildings made of heavily weathered stone, connected by constantly-shifting bridges built of greasy black metal. Several bridges and hallways even move on their own, stretching and bending like tentacles to block or allow access to other areas.
Hircine – The Prince of the hunt, sport, the Great Game, and the Chase.
Some believe that Hircine was not one of the original Daedric Princes and is therefore a spawn or offshoot, but others argue because he is the origin of all lycanthropes or animal-shifters.
While he cannot exactly be seen as benevolent, he is very honorable and always gives his prey a sporting chance; he's even willing to be congratulatory to those who were deemed as prey if they manage to turn the hunt to their favor and become the hunters in turn. He is not needlessly destructive like many of his Daedric brethren.
Hircine's plane is known as The Hunting Grounds. It is made up mostly of dense woodland and vast grasslands and plains. Mortals entering these realms are typically hunted down by the inhabitants. The souls of lycanthropes who die are claimed by Hircine and spend eternity in his Hunting Grounds.
Jyggalag – The Prince of logical order and deduction, upholds strict order above all else.
He has taken account of every detail of the world and of every action that has ever taken place long before they actually happen. Because of this he believes in certainty and determinism, and that the concept of individuality is an illusion. He was believed by some to be the only Prince who knew his true purpose. Because of this the other Princes cursed him to be against everything he stood for turning him into the prince of Madness, Sheogorath.
The Plane for both Sheogorath and Jyggalag is known as the Shivering Isles. It is separated into two communities: Mania, the fantastic, colorful side, where art enthusiasts and insane revelers reside, and Dementia, the horrific, dark and ominous side, inhabited by those with the darker side of Sheogorath's blessings.
Malacath – The Prince whose sphere is the patronage of the spurned and ostracized.
Malacath's teachings put a large emphasis on conflict, and he seems to enjoy watching mortals fighting one another. While not technically a "good" Daedric Prince, Malacath does have, to a certain degree, a sense of honor and an almost paternal concern for his followers.
Ashpit is the plane of Oblivion that is ruled by Malacath. The Ashpit consists of nothing but dust, ash and smoke; there is no ground, sky, or air. Of the realms accessible to mortals, it is considered one of the hardest to reach, and on it levitation and magical breathing are an absolute necessity
Mehrunes Dagon – The Prince of destruction, violent upheaval, energy, and mortal ambition.
He appears as a gigantic demonic creature with red skin, yellow eyes and four arms, each one armed with a deadly weapon, one such arm had metal claws protruding from its fists. Mehrunes has attempted to conquer many of the physical worlds many times. The common reasoning behind his many plots is his belief is in fact a plane which is rightly his. Because of this he of causes strife among his fellow Princes.
Deadlands is the plane in which belongs to Mehrunes Dagon. It is an inhospitable nightmare of lava and molten rock, pocked with islands. The sky perpetually storms, the natural astrology of the Deadlands perpetually burning red, casting dark shadows over the entire realm
Mephala – The Prince of unknown plots and obfuscation, a master manipulator, a sower of discord.
Commonly Mephala prefers to present herself as female. She is also considered one of the three 'good' Princes. Not much is really known about her. Many of her followers call her the Night Mother. Some say she lays favor and work upon assassins, some say she favors thieves.
Mephala is the ruler of the plane Spiral Skein. It is believed by most to be intricate and woven together in the form of a web/wheel, which is centered around the tower known as The Pillar Palace though its true name is too awful to be uttered. Between the tower and the edges of the wheel, there are eight spokes. These spokes or strands are known as The Eight Strands of Skein, for which each are based on sins such as sex or assassination, Mephala's category of ruling.
Meridia – The Prince of the energies of all living things, enemy of the undead and all who disrupt the flow of life.
She is one of the Princes whose obscurity prevents most mortals from understanding much about her at all, mostly because it is thought that she was not originally a Daedric Prince at all. She almost always comes in the form of a beautiful woman.
Meridia has always had a passionate hatred for all things undead. She takes great joy in rewarding mortals who purge the realms of the wretched walking-corpses, along with any Necromancers who have tampered with her life-giving energies. Meridia is one of the few Daedric Princes considered to be benevolent.
Once an era she will bestow a mortal some of her power. This means the human has boundless energy to give. The chosen mortal often is a powerful psychic that can unlock any psychic gift when needed. Additionally this means they are also gifted with the ability to see and communicate inside limbo as well as having the energy to be able to open and close any door to any of the Princes Planes.
The Colored Rooms are a collection of realms belonging to Meridia. They seem to resemble a cross between a coral reef and a vast field of floating stones, strewn with colorful trails of dust or cloud. The "ground" between the stones looks like luminescent water, but is solid enough to walk on.
Molag Bal – The Prince of domination and spiritual enslavement, seeks to ensnare souls within his domain.
Molag Bal resembles a large, bipedal hybrid of a bull and a reptile, and usually appears in a form adorned with horns, fangs, claws and a long tail. His main desire is to harvest and consume the souls of mortals and to bring mortals' souls into his sway by spreading seeds of strife and discord.
He is known for the creation of the vampire race that originated on Gotham. He also created the Box to which gives the Cenobites new souls to play with. He does enjoy his rituals that his followers set up for him, enjoying in taking both one male and one female soul at the same time.
Coldharbour is the plane that is associated with Molag Bal. The ground is nothing more than sludge; the sky constantly burns, and yet the air is beyond freezing. Even an Imperial Palace is known to be there, but dripping with blood and laden with corpses. This realm is known for its vast slave pens and laborers, bleak, dead rocky chasms and twisted, abandoned ruins. Coldharbour is known as one of the most inhospitable realms.
Namira – The Prince of the "ancient darkness," the patron of all things considered repulsive.
She is the patron of cannibals, greatly taking joy in consuming mortal flesh. She also may have been the creator of all repulsive creatures such as spiders, insects and slugs. Not much else is known about her.
Scuttling Void is the plane to which Namira resides. No one has ever gone in and returned.
Azura – A Prince who maintains/draws power from the balance of night and day, light and dark.
Azura is always depicted as a female and is also thought to be the sister of Nocturnal, but whether this is true or not is yet to be known.
